Keep the table honest, night after night
Cards get shuffled. Felt gets slid across. Chips get stacked. This page covers all three, so every session stays quietly high-stakes for years, not months.
Cards
A single card runs about 0.3mm thick. Stack fifty-two and the deck stands roughly 16mm tall inside the box.
Plastic decks handle over 1,000 hands before the corners soften. Paper stock, even at 300 to 330gsm, shows wear after 50 to 100 hands.
- Bridge-size cards measure 57mm by 88mm, narrower than poker size.
- A cut card sits near the bottom of the shoe, hiding the last few cards from view.
- Eight decks in a shoe stack to about 128mm of card height.
True to the felt
Felt
Brush in one direction only, following the nap toward the dealer's position. Cross-brushing lifts fibres and dulls the slide.
Blot spills within minutes, not hours. Wine and beer set into speed cloth fast and stain the weave underneath.
- Roll the cloth for storage; folding leaves permanent crease lines.
- Store away from direct sun, which fades dye unevenly across the surface.
We've never sold a table we wouldn't put our own cards on.
Chips
Clean with mild soap and water only. Solvents and dishwasher heat crack the resin in clay composite and ceramic chips alike.
Keep trays away from direct heat and window sills. Warped chips no longer stack right, and a bent stack throws off a quick count.
- Dry chips fully before returning them to the rack.
- Check edge-spot patterns yearly for chipping or fading.

Check felt tension and rail bolts
Snug the rail screws; a loose rail deadens the cushion bounce.

Condition timber legs and rails
Wipe with a dry cloth first, then a light timber oil on exposed edges.

Rotate or replace the cloth
Speed cloth shows shine at the dealt zones first; wool-blend shows at the rail line.
- As needed
Replace the cut card and shoe
Swap a scuffed cut card immediately; it protects the bottom of every shoe.

Cloth wears before frames do. Chips fade before hinges loosen. We stock both, cut to the same standard.
