Buying truths, before you scroll
- Chip weights run 8g to 14g. Most home and club sets settle on 11.5g.
- Folding legs suit a room with limited storage. Fixed legs suit a room built around the game.
- Leave at least 3 feet of clearance on every side, for players and for pushed-back chairs.
A complete set needs four to six denominations to match a typical buy-in and blind structure. We keep to the old colour code: white for the lowest chip, then red, green, black and purple as the stakes climb. Check the edge spots and the inlay before you buy; a clean, consistent stripe pattern says a set was made properly, chip by chip.
Eleven and a half grams, every time. Anything lighter feels like a toy in a real game.
